State park reports and statewide studies, 1926-1986.

Series 2-3 of record group 97-295 consist of state park reports and statewide studies. The state park reports (1935-1970, predominately 1938-1948) contain published and unpublished reports pertaining to specific state park sites or regions. The reports from 1938 were written as part of the Works Project Administration Writers Program, and were meant for internal use by the Department of Conservation. This series documents park development and use over time, whether for recreation, reforestation, or conservation of natural areas. Includes information on parks in Marquette, East Tawas, Cross Village, Interlochen, and the Upper Peninsula. The statewide studies and reports (1926-1986, predominately 1938-1970) contain published and unpublished reports documenting public use of state lands as a whole. Includes user surveys.
